A 1969 graduate of Southern Illinois University, Anita Rodriguez practiced traditional dental hygiene in private practices for over 30 years. In 1999, she followed her passion and began providing preventive dental services to elders and adults with special needs with her mobile dental hygiene practice, ElderCare Dental Hygiene Services. Her mission is to make professional preventive dental care as convenient and affordable to her patients as possible. In 2004, Anita completed her baccalaureate degree at the University of Washington, including certificate programs in special needs and geriatric oral health care through the Dental Education in Care of the Disabled (DECOD) Program, and business administration through the University of Washington School of Business. She is recognized as a state and national leader in the advancement of her profession, and a champion for improving access to dental health care for underserved and forgotten populations. Anita has presented at local, state and national levels on special needs dental care and options for community dental hygiene practice. In 2007, she established one of the first Senior Center dental access programs in the nation. She is a consultant and trainer to hygienists in Washington and other states for developing innovative dental hygiene businesses. She has held various offices in the Washington State Dental Hygienists' Association at local and state levels since 1992, and qualified as the American Dental Hygienists' Association's first student intern in 2003. In 2007 she received top state professional honors with the WSDHA Martha Fales Award. In 2000, Anita and colleagues founded the Alliance of Dental Hygiene Practitioners, an organization that mentors and supports dental hygienists in Washington and other western states who have hygiene practices or are interested in developing community practices.

2019 Residential Care and Senior Center Program Trainings What does it take to start your own dental hygiene practice? You will be in the business of developing sustainable programs that benefit your communities as well as providing a good living for you, on a part or full time basis. Learning the ground "rules" for doing this is essential. Without good groundwork training and support, the path to success can be overwhelming. Many hygienists have started without good groundwork training and have ultimately failed. Do it right the first time! Because the "baby boomers" are retiring now, we are beginning to experience increasing pressures of the "silver tsunami" on our oral health care system. Most older adults have invested in a lifetime of good oral health care and want to keep their smiles in good shape for the rest of their lives. Adding the scientific knowledge of the oral health-general health impact, the demands for professional oral care services in long-term residential settings and senior centers are definitely on the rise! Kindred Associates, PLLC is conducting two trainings in the spring of 2019 – one for hygienists wanting to provide care in residential settings, the second for hygienists who want to start programs in senior or community centers. The location for both trainings will be announced at a later date. The first training on Saturday, May 18th will focus on RDH Practices in Senior and Community Centers. The second on Saturday, June 15th will focus on Residential RDH Practice. Each one-day intensive is held from 9 am to 4 pm. Both trainings will be lead by Anita Rodriguez, RDH, BSDH, with 20 years in residential care practice and a pioneer of the senior center programs. Each training also earns participants 6 hours of practice management C.E. (5 count toward annual C.E. requirements) Each training costs $1950 with a minimum of $500 to secure your reservation, and a no-interest monthly contract on the balance if not paid in full. Each training includes a full day intensive and a binder and CD of all the practice legalities, contract templates, enrollment, clinical, report and billing forms, presentation power points, promotional materials and more. By taking the training you have the rights to personalize and use any of the forms with your contact information. Plus, I include 5 hours of one-on-one consulting to help you get started with your practice. Many hygienists take both trainings so they can better meet the needs of their communities and diversify their practice. Hygienists wishing to take both trainings can save $150 by paying $3750 for both, with a minimum of $750 down. To reserve your space in one or both trainings, please RSVP by April 15 th . Here is what past trainees had to say about their experience and support: "Anita has been absolutely instrumental in providing set-up information and administrative templates that are otherwise almost impossible to come by. She is a treasure trove of practical, sensible advice, able to provide a rapid and intelligent assessment of each individual circumstance and always very prompt with concrete, detailed resources for any type of questions one might encounter in this line of work. I have been truly impressed by her level of professionalism, vision and leadership and I consider myself very lucky to have made her acquaintance!" Sarah Luetke, RDH Sound Dental Care, PLLC Anita has been my Mentor through this process of starting my own business. Without her help it would have taken me years to accomplish what she already has done. I was up and running in three to four months. Becky J Bly, RDH Bly Dental Hygiene Spokane, WA Anita has inspired me for years! After observing her work in a facility, I knew it was the right move for me. The consulting time and forms save me so much time and gave me valuable information to start. I use many of the forms and just tweak them as I grow. It's nice not to have to reinvent all the forms. Her information and guidance is incredible. I feel fortunate to have her as my mentor. Jan Loder RDH Healthy Pearls Dental Hygiene Service Seattle, WA
